Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is the leading provider of homeless youth services in the DC Region. Through the holistic integration of its Pillars of Opportunity, Sasha Bruce provides safe homes, life skills, and workforce development to meet the unique needs of homeless youth. For more than 45 years it has implemented innovative interventions aimed at ending youth homelessness in the DC region. Today, its programs in DC and Prince George’s County, MD serve over 6,500 runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth and their families. About Bruce House
Bruce House is a short‑term stay for youth ages 12‑17. It is open 24/7, 365 days a year, and operates a 24‑hour crisis hotline. The program focuses on a trauma‑informed approach, offering life‑skill groups, family counseling, and working with agencies to achieve family reunification and stable placements. Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Youth Engagement Specialist (YES) coordinates daily activities at Bruce House, creating a safe, caring environment for high‑risk youth in crisis. The role requires an individual who can contribute to a positive, stable, and responsive environment, monitor safety and conduct of residents, engage with youth, and provide clinical and crisis intervention as needed. This is a full‑time position, Monday‑Friday 3 PM – 11 PM. Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and implement weekday activity schedule. Conduct regular house inspections and document findings. Maintain accurate, legible reports in the house log. Provide crisis intervention and on‑site counseling. Execute emergency fire evacuation and other emergency procedures. Cover office duties, answer phone calls and record visitors. Supervise residents, enforce house rules and safety. Participate in required training during non‑shift hours. Attend regular supervision meetings with the program director. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 2–3 years of relevant experience in Human Services or a related field. Prior experience working with adolescents/young adults required. Strong spoken and written English including report writing. Valid Driver’s License and required DC clearances. Experience with youth, teens, and families dealing with trauma, crisis, and community stress. Excellent time management, problem‑solving, and customer service skills. Organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to multitask. Willingness to work extra hours, attend meetings/training as needed. Equal Employment Opportunity
