FT Night Shift, variable Pay Range:
$34.90 - $52.35 This is a sign-on bonus eligible position. Atrium Health Mercy 4 South is a 20-bed adult Progressive Care / Step Down ICU unit. This is a great opportunity to join the Atrium Health family and to be part of the growth and development of this new unit. The patients on the PCU tend to have complex, chronic diseases and require advanced nursing skills with diagnoses including sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, DKA, and titratable drips. Atrium Health Mercy has treated approximately 80-110 ED and 130-212 in-patients daily and emphasizes compassionate care, Magnet nursing excellence, and Planetree patient-centered care. The Planetree model focuses on engagement, partnership, evidence-based improvement, and safety. As a Planetree Certified facility, we focus on: Connect values, strategies, and action; implement practices that promote partnership; use evidence to drive improvement; and create structures that promote engagement. Major Responsibilities
Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post-discharge. Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes. Upholds and promotes a culture of safety. Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking action as needed. Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures. Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications. Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making, respects interdisciplinary roles, and contributes to integrated, unbiased patient care. Appropriately delegates to other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse assistants, and other unlicensed assistive personnel. Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation. May be required to float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care; assess data reflective of the patient’s status; interpret information to identify age-specific needs; follow department policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required
Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty. Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where care is provided (RN multi-state compact and/or single-state). Note: Telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities require licensure or privileges in the client location’s state. Education Required
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program. Experience Required
No formal RN experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking. Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency with computer systems (e.g., email, electronic records, digital platforms). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently. Must be able to lift and support up to 35 pounds; handle patients, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and assist with transfers up to 150 lbs with assistance. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch; fine hand manipulation for procedures. Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. May require physical safety interventions; wear protective clothing and equipment as needed. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing may be required. Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified by the nurse leader. Education Preferred
