Primary Purpose
Responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems. Primary Duties
Within the limits of required certifications, performs or arranges all tests, maintenance, repairs and replacement of equipment related to HVAC, electrical systems, emergency power systems, plumbing, fire alarms and sprinkler systems. Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill in painting, carpentry, masonry, lock repair, grounds keeping, etc. Operate energy management systems. Perform general facilities work as required. Estimate costs of modifications and or new installations. Lead, direct and train lower classified employees. Review and inspect work by contractors. Minimum Qualifications
DC Class 3 – Steam and Hot Water Heating Boiler Engineer Special License in Electrical Maintenance and Repair Work MD Grade 3 – Stationary Engineer Universal CFC Certificate Valid driver license FERC and NERC Certification Ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly in English Ability to communicate verbally and in writing information of a complex nature Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, modify and correct blueprints, schematics, sketches and diagrams Ability to provide instruction pertaining to equipment tested, maintained, fabricated or erected Ability to utilize information technology systems Pass any company‑required tests/assessments and meet other screening requirements Able to work overtime, including callout, consistent with the Labor Agreement High school graduate or equivalent Physical Requirements
Able to perform indoor and outdoor work in hot and cold temperatures Able to work in enclosed spaces, on or around energized equipment; work in dirty, dusty and low light areas Able to use both hands and arms simultaneously, work while squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling or standing for extended periods Able to climb ladders or structures, lift and carry 50 pounds, possess a high degree of manual dexterity Normal hearing and vision correctable to 20/20 Regularly required to walk, stand, talk and hear; frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; often required to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl Benefits
