This position will manage professional accounting and administrative operations for the Department of Revenue (including the Director’s Office, Licensing, Collector, and Recorder of Deeds). Salary and Benefits

The typical starting salary range will be between $68,993.60 - $82,784.00 annually depending on the candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. Oversees the daily accounting activities. Manages, directs, and reviews the work of the accounting staff. Resolves complex accounting issues or assists other personnel in resolving financial issues. Reviews general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting. Makes and implements recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures. Produces financial reports and provides financial analysis. Audits accounts to ensure compliance. Coordinates with auditors and provides needed information. Assists County Auditor staff or contracted auditors with performing test procedures. Performs related work as required. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and five years of related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Selection and Appointment

The work rules for the Department of Revenue require all employees, whether they reside in St. Louis County or elsewhere, to remain current in the payment of their personal and real property taxes. A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision. All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
