Job Overview Hiring a Lead Veterinary Technician to join our INCREDIBLE Cardiology team! As a hospital deeply rooted in the local community, Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists offers national resources while maintaining a genuine local feel.
About You As a veterinary technician, you'll play a vital role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your work will include hands‑on outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, surgery assistance, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients.
Experience & Skills Requirements
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cardiology veterinary technician
CVT/LVT/RVT preferred
Experience in leadership encouraged
Available for on‑call rotation (required)
Self‑motivated
Strong communication, interpersonal, and client‑care skills
Technical proficiency in anesthesia, surgical assisting, post‑operative care, and diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology)
Excellent problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution abilities
Ethical, diplomatic, courteous, and professional conduct
Attention to detail and ability to observe animal behavior
Proficiency in emergency first aid and advanced monitoring of anesthetic patients (ASA I‑III, preferred ASA I‑V)
Familiarity with ventilator use and common cardiac diseases, echocardiography, cardiac surgeries, and post‑operative care
Ability to obtain and interpret blood pressure, ECG, SpO₂, and CO₂ measurements; integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early interventions
Experience in collecting laboratory samples (blood, urine, tissue) and conducting tests (urinalyses, blood counts)
Comfortable using digital radiography machines and advanced diagnostic equipment
Role Responsibilities
Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow in all hospital functions.
Attend regular leadership and department meetings to collaborate with management on improvement and development.
Disseminate information to the team and monitor department performance.
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance service quality and resource utilization.
Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
Obtain relevant health history and information from clients; maintain medical charts.
Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean, sterile, and organized.
Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
