Lead Veterinary Technician - Cardiology Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is hiring a Lead Veterinary Technician to join our INCREDIBLE Cardiology team!

About You As a veterinary technician, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life‑changing work will range from hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Experience & Skills Requirements

Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cardiology veterinary technician

CVT/LVT/RVT (preferred)

Candidates with leadership experience encouraged to apply

Available for on‑call rotation (required)

Is self‑motivated

Has strong communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on client care

Possesses strong technical skills

Has experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post‑operative care

Has experience running diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/Radiology)

Excellent problem‑solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)

Ethical (diplomatic, courteous, professional)

Strong attention to detail

Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals

Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals

Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I‑III (preferred experience with ASA I‑V)

Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred)

Familiar with common cardiac disease, echocardiography, cardiac surgeries/procedures and post operative care

Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO₂, and EtCO₂ and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care

Collect laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, or tissue, for testing

Perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts

Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning

Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment

Role Responsibilities

Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.

With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.

Attend regular leadership and department meetings to collaborate with other management on improving and developing yourself and your team.

Ensure proper dissemination of information to your team.

Monitor and regularly report on department performance; proactively identify opportunities to enhance service quality and effectively utilize our resources.

Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.

Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.

Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.

Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
