Project Controls Analyst Sr/Lead (Varies) Tampa Electric

is hiring a Project Controls Analyst Sr/Lead (Varies) to support cost control and scheduling for a portfolio of renewable energy projects. Join the team to help manage project schedules, budgets, and earned value analysis, and collaborate with engineering, construction, and procurement partners.

Tampa, Florida

Shift:

8 hours x 5 days.

Position Concept The Project Controls Analyst provides project cost control and scheduling support for projects managed by the department and business unit. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing detailed project schedules for accuracy and earned value, assisting with cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting, coordinating with consulting engineering firms, and communicating with project controls representatives from contractors and suppliers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Create work orders and tasks, input estimates and material costs into Workman while maintaining data integrity.

Develop and submit SAP requisitions for services and materials.

Maintain accurate review and pre‑approval of invoices; coordinate invoicing with Legal, Energy Delivery, Real Estate, and other departments.

Verify, process, and pay all invoices and check requests for the department.

Support monthly and YTD budget explanations, preparing charts and graphs to support forecasts.

Assist with tracking and analyzing monthly engineering and construction project costs (Solar, Battery Storage, Distributed Energy, Community Solar).

Investigate and document actual charges using SAP software.

Support monthly and year‑end close‑out and accrual process.

Track progress and earned value for engineering and construction contracts; recommend corrective action as needed.

Review contractor quantity reporting programs for accuracy.

Participate in the review and tracking of change orders and requests.

Provide detailed financial analysis and recommend strategies to achieve project and department financial goals.

Coordinate project cost information from consulting engineers, manufacturers, and contractors to support overall reporting needs.

Relationships Key Internal:

Corporate financial and accounting departments, accounts payable, project engineering and construction teams, procurement, and contract administrators. Key External:

Engineering and construction contractors, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).

Experience:

Minimum 3 years in a project controls role for engineering and construction projects (5 years preferred for more senior positions).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Proficiency with project controls concepts, Excel, and SAP/ERP systems; knowledge of Workman, Primavera, and PowerPlant Accounting System preferred.

Strong communication skills to interface with external engineering and construction firms and suppliers.

Demonstrated independence managing complex project schedules, budgets/forecasts, and cash flow.

Storm Duty Requirements Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.
