Overview
The Data Analyst supports strategic decision-making across the university by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting institutional data. This role contributes to institutional effectiveness, student success initiatives, and operational efficiency by delivering actionable insights to academic and administrative units. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. Responsibilities
Collects, cleans, and manages data from student information systems, financial systems, and other institutional databases. Analyzes data related to enrollment, retention, graduation rates, student demographics, faculty workload, and financial performance. Develops dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support strategic planning, accreditation, and compliance reporting. Collaborates with various administrative units to understand data needs and deliver customized analyses. Supports institutional research efforts, including survey design, administration, and analysis. Ensures data integrity, consistency, and security across reporting platforms. Assists in preparing reports. Stays current with higher education trends, data governance practices, and analytic tools. Qualifications
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Statistics, Educational Research, Information Systems, or a related field or Master’s Degree. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: Experience working with higher education data systems ( e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, Workday) Additional Job Posting Information
