About the Position The Sous Chef manages the hourly back‑of‑house staff and assists in the day‑to‑day operations of all kitchen areas: production, prep, special and private events, stewarding, purchasing, and receiving. The role requires strong knowledge of various cooking methods and preparation techniques, ensuring foods are prepared and presented promptly. The Sous Chef leads the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence, maintaining a cohesive, efficient, and calm team under pressure.
Responsibilities
Lead and supervise hourly and line staff, ensuring high quality and timely service.
Manage kitchen operations, including production, prep, events, and inventory.
Develop and supervise menu items, ensuring consistency and presentation.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
Assist in purchasing and receiving of ingredients.
Support the Executive Chef in menu planning and culinary vision.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of progressive culinary experience, ideally in a Lead Cook or Sous Chef position.
Strong leadership, communication, and team‑building skills.
Proficiency in various cooking methods and kitchen equipment.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism.
Valid culinary certification is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary: $55,000 – $70,000 per year, plus a generous quarterly bonus program.
