This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Probation Department. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the Probation Department located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months.

Responsibilities

Provide a high level of administrative strategic planning and support in the coordination and implementation of highly Probation Department projects.

Assist with evaluating, planning, and implementing new services or programs requested by Executive Management.

May organize and coordinate the functions of the Probation Department in specific areas relating to the Adult Services Division, Juvenile Services Division, Adult Court Services Division, Juvenile Detention Division, and Administration.

Analyze and solve problems identified and gaps in providing services; gather information from management and staff; analyze and present research in a clear and concise manner.

Use information obtained to formulate clear and concise alternatives and present recommendations to management staff.

Minimum Qualifications Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, organizational development, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, health administration, public health, social services administration, psychology, sociology, clinical management, computer science, or a closely related field.

Experience

One (1) year of professional administrative work involving planning, coordinating, and evaluating projects and services OR one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in journalism, communication, or public relations.

Knowledge of

Principles and methods used in data analysis.

Legislative and programmatic trends at local, State, and Federal levels.

Principles and concepts of organizational development.

Principles and practices of juvenile and adult probation work contracts, professional services agreements, professional work agreements, and general governmental purchasing requirements.

Skill/Ability to

Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.

Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.

Accurately apply excellent written and oral communications.

Plan, coordinate, analyze and control operating procedures and develop effective improvements as needed.

Desirable Employment Standards

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in business or public administration, organizational development, accounting, finance, economics, marketing, health administration, public health, social services administration, psychology, sociology, clinical management, computer science, or a closely related field.
