The
Systems Engineering Manager
is a leadership role on the Corporate Engineering team, accountable for secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure. The role blends technical depth, operational discipline, and people leadership. It requires organizing and guiding the team with clarity while aligning with senior leadership on strategy—driving results through collaboration and accountability. The ideal candidate will bring a strong systems engineering background, proven experience in automation and scripting across Windows and Linux, and the ability to support global hardware and software platforms. They will be customer-focused, skilled at mentoring engineers, and capable of setting high standards for service delivery while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. What You’ll Do
Lead a team of systems engineers, setting clear expectations, coaching performance, and conducting regular reviews. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the engineering team. Act as a liaison between engineering and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs. Design, configure, and manage virtualized and cloud infrastructure, with an emphasis on reliability, automation, and scalability. Implement and maintain server infrastructure, including physical and virtual environments, OS configuration, and hardware support. Develop and document SOPs, playbooks, and runbooks to ensure consistent operations and knowledge sharing. Use scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to automate tasks, resolve issues, and improve system efficiency. Manage and support enterprise tools such as JAMF, Intune, Active Directory, and IDaaS platforms, including SaaS integrations. Advocate for and implement secure practices, including patching, hardening, and incident remediation. Provide tier 2 and 3 support to internal helpdesk teams and end users as needed. Monitor service metrics and team workload, identifying trends to drive performance and process optimization. Oversee IT procurement, inventory, and budget, including licensing, invoicing, and vendor management. Create and execute project plans for core IT services, coordinating timelines, resources, and communication with senior leadership. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and internal controls to standardize and improve systems engineering practices. Collaborate with IT peers and leaders to support cross-functional initiatives and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships. Champion clear and effective written and verbal communication within the team and across the organization. Identify areas of unnecessary complexity and implement strategic simplifications or automations. Promote team wellbeing and morale by recognizing achievements and supporting professional development. Stay informed about industry trends and recommend innovative tools or practices to evolve the systems engineering function. What You Need
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
Experience:
6 years IT, with 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship capacity
Knowledge:
AWS, SaaS Ecosystem, Active Directory, Virtualization, Okta
Skills:
Active Directory and identity systems (e.g., IDaaS, group policy) SaaS administration and integration Scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar) Virtualization (VMware or equivalent) Basic hybrid cloud support (e.g. Azure/AWS system administration) Endpoint management (JAMF, Intune) Familiarity with enterprise backup platforms such as Commvault Team leadership and people management
Bonus Points
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Experience:
8+ years total, with experience managing or leading systems infrastructure teams
Knowledge:
Virtual environment design, Advanced Active Directory services, JAMF, Okta, Jira, identity management, Microsoft Azure, and Intune
