Procurement & Logistics Data Analyst Co‑Op (Northeastern Students)

The Procurement & Logistics Data Analyst Co‑Op works alongside the data analytics team under the direction of the Director of Business Process and Analysis. The Co‑op assists in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data (primarily in Tableau) to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings in procurements and material flow. The Co‑op may also assist in process mapping, business procedure updating, and inventory policy development. Additional duties might include assisting staff with data research and all other tasks as deemed appropriate.
We are hiring two Co‑ops. Each co‑op works two days in‑office, three days remote (40 max hours per week) for a period of six months.
Responsibilities
Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field for the entire duration of employment.
Maintain data pipelines to support infrastructure development for internal procurement and logistics tools.
Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret procurement and logistics data to drive insights and improve processes.
Conduct research, perform analysis, and present findings to support strategic decision‑making.
Gain a deep understanding of state and federal government regulations and transportation policies impacting procurement and logistics.
Assist with additional projects and duties as assigned to support department objectives.
Participate in team meetings, organization events, fieldwork, project teams, or other duties as needed.
Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Knowledge of Tableau and Python / Pandas with experience developing insightful visualizations and performing in‑depth data analysis.
Proficiency in at least one programming language and work with tools such as Git, SQL / No‑SQL, CLI / bash scripting, and R or Python / Pandas.
Strong ability to combine technical expertise with succinct communication (in English) to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations.
Enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge with the team; ability to stay up‑to‑date with emerging technologies and best practices.
Authorized to work in the United States (international students in CPT, STEM, or OPT programs through a university are eligible to apply). The MBTA does not provide visa sponsorship.
Internship students must be enrolled full or part‑time in an accredited educational program and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 for the entire duration of the internship/co‑op.
All employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have a U.S. Social Security Number. The MBTA is an equal‑employment‑opportunity employer.
