Vice President, Business Development

About the Opportunity Our client, a leading U.S. based CDMO, is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Business Development to lead commercial growth across their global operations.
This is a highly visible executive role with responsibility for driving strategic partnerships, expanding market share, and leading a high‑performing business development organization within a high‑growth, rapidly expanding CDMO.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing, deep customer relationships, and a proven record of commercial success in Pharma / Biotech CDMO.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the global business development strategy, focusing on both new customer acquisition and strategic account expansion.
Manage, mentor and develop a team of BD Directors, with the aim of expanding and growing the function.
Identify and secure opportunities across small molecule API development, drug product manufacturing, and analytical services.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
Negotiate high‑value commercial agreements and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
Collaborate closely with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Finance to deliver best‑in‑class customer experiences.
Represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
Provide data‑driven forecasting and performance reporting to senior leadership.
Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in business development or commercial leadership within CDMO, pharmaceutical, or biotech sectors.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutics, or related field; MBA or advanced scientific degree preferred.
Strong understanding of drug development and manufacturing processes, including regulatory and quality frameworks.
Proven track record of driving revenue growth and leading successful BD teams.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally) up to 50%.
