We are looking for an Account Manager on Marketing and Membership Experience in our Chicago office. This hybrid position requires 3 days in the office per week. The role supports health system and group partnership accounts, contributing to year‑over‑year account retention for large health systems. The Account Manager works with the Director and Vice President to drive partner engagement via advocacy, physician well‑being, spotlight and recognition, and other resources across AMA.
Responsibilities
Build and nurture relationships with current, new, and prospective group partners by establishing communication with leadership contacts responsible for each group membership benefit.
Create and implement account plans that support membership retention and growth.
Gain access to C‑Suite and Executive Leadership to monitor customer satisfaction, gather insights to meet customer goals and objectives, and communicate updates on benefit fulfillment and new resources.
Foster AMA relationships within each business section to deliver benefit fulfillment and facilitate delivery of AMA‑wide offerings based on group and member needs.
Retain and increase membership levels at all accounts; inform the Director of any retention risks and establish plans to mitigate the risk.
Provide competitive insights and new product ideas captured during customer interactions and industry conferences.
Assist in identifying existing and emerging needs to maximize future acquisition opportunities and customer satisfaction.
Cultivate contacts from networking opportunities at meetings, conferences, and events.
Navigate to influencers and decision makers within accounts to cross‑sell additional AMA products and resources.
Collaborate with Account Executives to develop opportunities at new accounts and grow membership within each assigned account.
Engage account participation in AMA‑invested speaking opportunities and related thought‑leadership initiatives.
Ensure account plans, reports, scorecard data, and Salesforce activities are executed and updated accurately.
Work with management and operations to support continual improvement of account management processes.
Provide support to operations with membership processing, contracts, invoicing, and physician rosters.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or healthcare required.
Advanced degree a plus.
7+ years of sales and account management experience within a large health system required.
5+ years of experience leading, influencing, and interacting with external stakeholders, including C‑Suite and decision makers.
Experience managing physicians, academic leaders, or other professionals preferred.
Established industry contacts within health systems and large group practices preferred.
In‑depth knowledge of issues and concerns within the health system and large medical group environment highly preferred.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, including presentation skills.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Polished interpersonal, decision‑making, and diplomatic skills to communicate with all levels of leadership.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Salesforce required.
Ability to identify issues, recommend resolutions, and elevate appropriately for management attention.
Some travel required.
Location: 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611 – convenient public transportation. Salary range: $97,461‑$129,056 plus incentive plan.
