Responsibilities Strategy
Lead the design and implementation of a new performance management program system and process, driving a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
Advise senior management on creating strategies and implementing interventions to facilitate organizational and culture change, developing recommendations and action plans with AMA senior management.
Provide consultation on organizational planning, design, change management, and organizational effectiveness; partner with HR leaders and business units to design and implement organizational development initiatives that support AMA strategy and goals.
Talent Management and Development
Guide the design and delivery of programs that enhance organizational and individual performance, including leadership and manager development.
Build bench‑strength of leadership talent through individual development plans and by partnering with senior leadership on high‑potential development strategies.
Work directly with executive management, SVP HR, and HR Director to design succession planning processes and build a leadership pipeline.
Develop a career framework, leveraging job frameworks to identify competencies and develop tools and training on career development for managers and employees.
Develop a continuous learning and development framework for all employees, encouraging skill‑building, performance excellence, and professional growth at all levels.
Staff Management
Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for professional staff.
Set objectives, evaluate performance, and develop staff.
May Include Other Responsibilities As Assigned Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred, in business, human resources, organizational development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Minimum 12+ years in Talent Management/Organization Development with at least 5 years directing a Talent Management/Organization Development function.
Extensive knowledge and experience leading process and system transformation, especially performance management.
Demonstrated competency in large group facilitation, planning, individual and team coaching, and design/facilitation of leadership and team development sessions.
Experience creating and implementing talent management approaches, leadership development, change management, and organizational development initiatives.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work with highly sensitive data and information.
7+ years of experience in people management; ability to attract and develop talent.
Demonstrated leadership ability to drive results and lead across the organization through influence and collaboration.
Proven ability to build and implement long‑term plans and roadmaps.
American Medical Association is located at 330 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611. This is an exempt position; salary range $187,680–$250,000, with compensation determined by business considerations, geographical location, and candidate qualifications. Employees are eligible for an incentive plan.
