Job Description As an Advanced Systems Engineer at Honeywell, you will join a team that designs, develops, and integrates highly complex systems for APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) gas turbine engines within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and own systems throughout the entire lifecycle—from business development to end‑of‑life.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Engineering Manager, the role is based in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and is eligible for hybrid work mode after the initial 90 days.

Responsibilities

Lead design, integration, and qualification of control systems components or APU line replaceable units (LRU); this includes development of design documentation, test plans, test execution, and data reduction.

Support production, fielded product investigations, and supplier transitions.

Plan, schedule, and manage design & qualification efforts, coordinating with team leads and project engineers on status and ensuring milestone fidelity.

Maintain communication with suppliers, customers, and project engineering, including document releases, test scheduling, and status reporting.

Integrate LRU design into larger system and application, ensuring alignment with system‑level or customer requirements.

Ensure approved source‑list drawings and build‑to‑print drawings are compliant with Honeywell drawing and governing requirements.

Participate in planning & scheduling, integrating supplier schedule into program schedule, and establishing LRU program milestones.

Author coordination memos, manage tracking logs, and respond to suppliers and customers.

Lead supplier qualification activities and maintain source status elevation for LRU.

Develop and approve specific test plans and procedures (QTPs), integrating into Honeywell QTPs and facilitating updates from customer input.

Conduct test execution (including on‑site supplier visits when necessary) and data reduction; lead test setup and unit conformity.

Generate similarity arguments, analysis, and test reports supporting qualification.

Travel Up to a maximum of 10%.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Strong understanding of control systems components for gas turbine engines (e.g., wire harnesses, starter motors, sensors).

Experience with system integration, test planning, and qualification in an aerospace environment.

Ability to speak, read, and write professional English.

Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple, complex tasks.

Strong leadership/communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary, global teams.

Adaptability to project changes and autonomy in decision making.
