Job Description Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking a detail‑oriented and adaptable Project Accountant to join our San Diego team. This role is designed for a professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of assignments from start to finish, and can manage multiple projects while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting settlement accounting, client distributions, and firm‑wide initiatives.

Job Duties
Take ownership of assigned accounting projects, ensuring completion on time and with a high degree of accuracy
Prepare and process client settlement distributions and attorney fee allocations
Review client distribution agreements, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with terms
Perform reconciliations and audits of payments, trust/IOLTA, and Qualified Settlement Fund (QSF) accounts
Collaborate with Settlement and Legal teams to streamline workflows and resolve project‑specific issues
Assist with month‑end and year‑end close tasks as assigned
Prepare schedules and project‑based financial reports for management review
Respond to internal and external inquiries related to payments, distributions, or project status
Support the Accounting leadership team with ad‑hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications And Requirements
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
Experience with settlement accounting, trust/IOLTA, or QSF accounts strongly preferred
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks or equivalent)
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments under deadlines
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
Exceptional communication skills for cross‑department collaboration and client interactions
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA a plus)
Full‑time, Hybrid position (In Office 3 days per week)
