Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Position Summary The Inventory Planning Specialist will secure the material flow and availability of aftermarket spare parts for a defined assortment of parts and suppliers in North America.
Primary Responsibilities
The Inventory Planning Specialist’s main responsibility is to secure the set target of availability, delivery precision and stock level for a defined part range.
The Inventory Planning Specialist is the logistical contact person for suppliers.
Responsible for information on ETA internally in backorder situations and keeping information updated in PULS (internal aftersales parts management system).
Develop suppliers to reach availability targets and increase efficiency.
Send delivery schedules and requisitions.
Actively discuss with parts planning and purchasing to solve issues on part supply.
Negotiate with suppliers regarding logistic issues e.g., lead-times, minimum order quantities, flexibility, packaging, transport, etc.
Work on continuous improvements concerning processes & methods (best practices).
Phase in of new suppliers to VCUSA.
Coordinate activities to handle surplus material from vehicle production and work with long time buy estimations.
Make sure that suppliers are aware of aftersales supplier strategy and ensure that suppliers act accordingly.
To collect information that can secure correct quantities to order from the supplier.
Liaison for purchasing information on articles to source as well as escalations.
Perform data analysis and recommend actions designed to optimize parts availability and efficient logistical flows.
The Inventory Planning Specialist has the authority to take actions that achieve the main tasks.
Initiate projects related to the development of suppliers.
Send delivery schedules to suppliers for the purpose of satisfying market needs for spare parts.
Adjust & maintain optimal stocking levels through manual & system controls.
Process information on new spare parts so that purchase requisitions can be released.
Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management (or related field). Master’s degree a plus.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in inventory forecasting/purchasing planning is desired.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in logistics and as a contributor to SCM process improvement projects
Knowledge and experience in LEAN Manufacturing preferred (LEAN/Six Sigma Cert a PLUS)
Strong data analytical skills – ability to work with data, create reports, deliver findings – are a must.
Fluency is Spanish as strongly preferred
