Overview Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in the design, integration, and construction management of capital asset projects. We're seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager with a current PE license to lead industrial power and controls design, coordinate utility and equipment interfaces, and drive projects from concept through startup. This role blends hands‑on electrical engineering with full‑lifecycle project management, vendor engagement, and field oversight.
Responsibilities Electrical Engineering
Review existing industrial power systems to determine capacity for capital expansions; plan and coordinate power usage and load studies.
Lead and supervise the creation of electrical power and controls bid‑package drawings, including 480VAC and 120VAC single‑line diagrams and power/control plan layouts.
Develop scopes of work for electrical and controls bid packages.
Coordinate with local utilities for service, transformer, and substation upgrades; specify transformers, conductors, busway, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
Review and approve new equipment electrical requirements (e.g., power load, breaker sizing, data communication/ethernet, grounding, machine safety).
Review and approve I/O drawings, control panels, and VFD panels produced by third parties.
Support machine safety audits and collaborate with safety partners on category assessments.
Apply working knowledge of NEC/industrial installations, arc‑flash study data gathering, PLC programming basics, and common automation components (VFDs, HMIs, PLCs, I/O modules, remote I/O).
Project Management
Establish project schedules and budgets; oversee multi‑disciplinary design efforts and direct engineers and CAD designers.
Lead selection and procurement of equipment and contractor services.
Run internal and external project meetings; track budgets, schedules, deliverables, and risks.
Collaborate with vendors and OEMs to prevent/resolve field issues.
Provide field oversight to confirm work quality, safety, code/spec compliance, and design intent.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
8+ years of relevant design, project management, and/or construction management experience.
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
Proficiency with AutoCAD (plus).
Ability to travel 30–50% to project sites across the U.S.
