Pratt Institute . Pratt Institute is seeking highly motivated Public Safety Officers to join its Public Safety Team at the Brooklyn and Manhattan campuses. This position supports the Institute’s safety and security operations by maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors through patrolling and monitoring campus conditions. Successful candidates will help foster a welcoming environment and serve as a source of information for the Pratt community and visitors. Responsibilities include: Being visible and observant at all times, greeting all community members courteously while ensuring safety through patrols, access control, and equipment monitoring. Responding promptly to distress calls, alarms, and emergencies while maintaining professionalism and legal compliance. Observing and reporting unsafe conditions or disturbances. Collaborating with other safety officers, security personnel, and first responders for effective campus response. Minimum requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of proven experience in security, law enforcement, or military service. Good moral and ethical standards, effective communication skills, and ability to operate detection and emergency systems. Valid NYS Security Guard License, 8-hour and 16-hour training certificates, and a valid driver’s license from NY, NJ, or CT meeting Pratt’s requirements. This is an OPEIU Local 153 Security position.
