Job Summary The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking an Associate Director of GME to join our team of professionals.
Responsibilities
Direct system-wide Graduate Medical Education (GME) program staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, and HR responsibilities.
Translate high‑level directives from the Director of GME into actionable plans for program supervisors.
Collaborate with stakeholders, consultants, departments, and staff to develop and coordinate strategies that advance GME program development and success.
Lead, implement, and manage operational initiatives in collaboration with Program Directors, faculty, staff, residents/fellows, and leadership.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of program supervisors and their staff, providing feedback and development opportunities.
Oversee program‑level budgets and resource allocation; recommend operational budgetary needs and ensure timely, accurate monthly financials.
Ensure all programs adhere to Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and institutional requirements, keeping current on accreditation standards and providing ongoing training.
Oversee compliance with residency management software use and coordinate staff training.
Analyze data and prepare reports, delivering presentations to leadership on program performance, challenges, and achievements.
Facilitate communication between program supervisors and upper management, ensuring effective information flow.
Collaborate with other office leaders to develop and maintain university partnerships to attain departmental goals.
Ensure new trainees are appropriately oriented to the institution and maintain liaison among functional areas, departments, and clinical partners.
Establish communication for planning purposes with related organizational units to meet operational goals.
Ensure compliance with FIU policies, procedures, practices, and programs, and with federal, state, and local legal/regulatory standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned or directed, and help lead change in accordance with change‑management plans.
Address program‑level concerns and, when necessary, elevate significant issues.
Execute and monitor adherence to GME policies developed by senior leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of appropriate experience, or Master’s degree and four (4) years of experience.
Desired Qualifications
Three years of Administrative Healthcare experience and/or experience in Undergraduate and/or Graduate Medical Education.
