Senior COBOL Developer Enhance and maintain complex mainframe applications, develop detailed technical specifications, and lead the design, development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of COBOL programs in a CICS/DB2 environment. Salary Range

$95,000 – $115,000 (base pay may vary within the range based on relevant experience). Work Location

Position requires residency in Wisconsin. Employees living within 45 miles of WPS Headquarters (1717 W. Broadway, Madison, WI) will be expected to work hybrid 2 days a week. Secondary consideration is remote work from approved states: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin. If not regionally local to Madison, frequent monthly travel to the headquarters will be required. Responsibilities

Enjoy COBOL development and have worked on large enterprise-level projects. Analyze requirements, prepare specifications, and document in accordance with departmental standards. Design, develop, test, and integrate applications, ensuring adherence to SDLC and change control processes. Provide comprehensive design and support for departmental applications. Conduct research and resolve issues related to business data processing. Provide production support to ensure high levels of customer service. Serve as technical lead for medium to large development efforts. Partner with Quality Assurance teams to validate and test applications. Perform peer reviews of code and technical documentation to maintain quality standards. Use source control tools to safeguard code integrity. Coordinate and communicate development activities with other teams. Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and appropriately escalates issues. Minimum Qualifications

U.S. citizenship required for this DoD contract position. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 5+ years in application development, implementation, and support. Advanced proficiency in COBOL, TSO, JCL, CICS, MVS, and File Aid. Solid proficiency with VSAM file structures. Strong background in relational databases (DB2 and SQL). Experience applying Agile methodology in departmental projects. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications

Additional 5+ years of mainframe development expertise. Exposure to WPS Mainframe systems and Tricare business line. Remote Work Requirements
