The Office of the Attorney General seeks an attorney for a position with the Civil Litigation Division.
The Division engages in defensive and affirmative civil litigation for the State, practicing in both state and federal courts.
Potential practice areas include constitutional law, environmental law, Indian law, and prisoner litigation.
The right candidate must communicate well to clients and the courts, possess strong legal advocacy skills, and enjoy trial work.
Salary range is between $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience.

Licenses and Certifications
JD degree
Licensed to practice law in South Dakota
Litigation experience of 3 to 5 years preferred but not required

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act and is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background investigation, an abuse and neglect screening, and a drug screening.
A national career readiness certificate is not required, but may be submitted with the application.
