Office of the Attorney General seeks an attorney for the Civil Litigation Division. This full‑time position will litigate statewide cases involving false, misleading, and deceptive trade practices and enforce antitrust laws. Attorneys practice in state and federal courts, initiate criminal and civil proceedings, and participate in multi‑jurisdictional actions with other law enforcement agencies. The right candidate must communicate well with clients and courts, possess strong legal advocacy skills, and enjoy trial work. Responsibilities
Litigate cases statewide involving alleged false, misleading, and deceptive trade practices. Enforce antitrust laws and promote competition. Practice in state and federal courts, initiate criminal and civil proceedings. Participate in multi‑jurisdictional actions with other state and federal law enforcement agencies. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and South Dakota bar admission. Three to five years of litigation experience preferred but not required. Strong legal advocacy and trial skills. Excellent written and oral communication. Licenses And Certifications
Applicants must have a JD degree and be licensed to practice law in South Dakota. Litigation experience of 3 to 5 years preferred but not required. Benefits
Salary range $80,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience. South Dakota offers retirement, state‑paid health insurance, paid leave, dental, vision, and other insurance options. This position is a member of Class A retirement under SDRS. Application Instructions
