Role Overview The Assistant Controller will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer and executive leadership to manage all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. You’ll help oversee the daily accounting functions while driving improvements in systems, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency. This role requires hands‑on involvement—someone comfortable diving into the details while maintaining a big‑picture understanding of how each number impacts the business. You’ll work across departments, tracking project budgets, vendor payments, client billing, and multi‑entity transactions.

About Data Airflow Data Airflow designs and builds large‑scale mechanical cooling systems for AI data centers, HPC facilities, and crypto mining operations. We handle projects from 20 MW to 300 MW, delivering high‑efficiency, turnkey solutions from design through commissioning. We’re growing fast, and that means scaling our financial systems with the same precision and discipline that drive our engineering. We’re looking for an Assistant Controller who can help strengthen our accounting backbone, improve processes, and ensure financial accuracy as we expand into new markets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
Assist in month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
Support job cost accounting for multi‑million‑dollar construction and engineering projects.
Coordinate billing, contract tracking, and progress payment schedules with project teams.
Assist in creating and monitoring project budgets, forecasts, and cash‑flow reports.
Support audits, tax preparation, and external CPA coordination.
Identify process gaps and implement improvements in reporting and internal controls.
Help develop dashboards and KPIs to give leadership real‑time financial insight.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CPA‑track preferred.
4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in construction, engineering, or manufacturing.
Strong understanding of GAAP and job‑cost accounting principles.
Skilled with QuickBooks Enterprise, NetSuite, or comparable ERP systems.
Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools a plus.
Detail‑oriented, analytical, and comfortable working under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
