Summary

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT that will remain open until September 30, 2026. Initial application cut‑off dates are the 1st of each month.

Location

Charlene Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. The city lies on the Savannah River, close to Atlanta, Columbia, and Charlotte.

Responsibilities

Provide inpatient rheumatology consults and follow‑up. Provide outpatient rheumatology consults and follow‑up. Deliver care for patients with a wide variety of rheumatologic conditions. Perform applicable rheumatology procedures. Manage an infusion clinic for biologic and IV bisphosphonate therapy. Coordinate with fellows, pharmacists, and other clinical staff for ongoing care. Complete mandatory training, credentialing, and chart reviews. Adhere to VHA policies, Medical Staff Bylaws, and department productivity goals. May participate in research duties per supervisory discretion.

Qualifications

United States citizenship (or eligible non‑citizen status). Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited program. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States. Residency training in an approved rheumatology program or equivalent core specialty with board‑certification eligibility. Board certification in rheumatology preferred. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Acceptable background, security, and physical health check requirements. U.S. Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959. Current physical fitness to perform essential job functions.

Benefits & Compensation

Pay:

Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off:

50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 Federal holidays, 1 day CME). Retirement:

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5 % VA match. Insurance:

Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long‑term care, and other federal programs. Licensure & CME:

One full and unrestricted state license; possible $1,000 annual CME reimbursement for full‑time board‑certified physicians. Malpractice:

No employment contract; no restrictions on moonlighting.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
