The community you’ll be caring for: 401 PALMETTO ST, New Smyrna Beach, 32168
The role you’ll contribute: The Cross-Trained Patient Care Technician, Health Unit Coordinator, and Monitor Technician (PCT/HUC/Monitor Tech) is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care support, coordination of unit activities, and continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythm strips. This role combines Patient Care Technician (PCT) responsibilities, Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) duties, and Monitor Technician tasks to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Patient Care Technician (PCT):
Document vital signs, intake and outputs, and patient activity. Notify RN of problematic IVs and discontinue peripheral IV sites. Obtain blood glucose readings, vital signs, and AM/PM care as delegated by RN. Complete treatments, procedures, and documentation within the scope of job duties directed by licensed nurse.
Health Unit Coordinator (HUC):
Accurately locate patients within the computer system. Respond to call lights and incoming phone calls. Place phone calls to other departments and physician offices.
Monitor Tech:
Obtain, interpret, and accurately document cardiac monitoring data following standard protocols. Document changes in heart rhythms according to policy. Communicate changes in patient's rhythm pattern and follow escalation procedures as necessary. Maintain proper functioning of telemetry equipment.
Shared Responsibilities:
Ensure an organized work environment. Support the departmental and organizational Mission through effective resource utilization, assistance to team members, work assignment acceptance, and participation in improvement processes.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: Minimum qualifications
High school graduate or GED.
Successful completion of Monitor Tech Training within 6-months of hire or pass standardized exam if experienced Monitor Tech.
Successful completion of required new hire tech onboarding training within 30-days of hire.
Preferred qualifications:
One (1) year of monitor technician or PCT experience preferred.
State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant/Nursing Assistant Certificate or a Patient Care Technician.
