CNA-HUC-Monitor Tech Combo – Intensive Care Unit
Join CommonSpirit Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) monitoring technology specialist in the ICU.
Job Summary This role provides direct patient care in the ICU setting, manages order transcription and entry, monitors telemetry, and supports nursing staff. The incumbent ensures compliance with regulatory standards for cardiac monitoring and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care within ICU CNA scope.
Transcribe and enter orders; perform HUC duties.
Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms at a central monitoring station.
Assist RN and nursing staff with admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient transport.
Perform patient hygiene, feeding, bathing, and skin care.
Collect and label specimens (urine, stool, sputum, blood products).
Maintain monitoring equipment, replace electrode pads, and respond to alarms.
Document all clinical activities and report changes in patient condition to RN.
Handle incoming/outgoing communication, greet visitors, and assist staff as needed.
Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
Maintain a safe, organized work environment and order supplies.
Essential Duties
Provide patient personal care and hygiene, including feeding, bathing, grooming, and bed making.
Monitor cardiac rhythms, obtain baseline ECGs, and report arrhythmias.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
Perform receptionist and support duties in the unit.
Maintain monitoring station operations and respond to technical issues.
Ensure adherence to safety, risk management, and infection control standards.
Participate in continuous improvement and cultural competence activities.
Job Requirements
Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training).
Minimum six months related work experience preferred.
Completion of a basic dysrhythmia interpretation course required within six months of hire.
Preferred experience as both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Unit Coordinator.
Must be licensed by Washington State Nursing Commission as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
