Job Description As a member of Takeda Oncology, your work will contribute to our bold, inspiring vision. Join Takeda as a Senior Medical Science Liaison, Solid Tumor covering the Florida and Puerto Rico territory. This role is a field-based, external customer-facing role responsible for analyzing, interpreting and disseminating scientific data, acquiring and translating customer insights, and compliantly connecting customers to Takeda in order to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes.
How you will contribute
Externally focused KOL/HCP related activities are expected to comprise a minimum of 80% of responsibilities
Build and maintain professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per individual territory plans aligned to medical strategy
Demonstrate advanced knowledge regarding Takeda disease areas and products as well as therapeutic area competitor landscape; analyze and interpret complex scientific information and disseminate to KOLs/HCPs in a compliant, fair-balanced, and non-misleading manner
Support Takeda-sponsored research and appropriately assist with facilitation of strategically aligned medical collaborative studies and investigator-initiated research processes
Display advanced knowledge of therapeutic area key intelligence topics/questions and effectively collect, interpret, and internally communicate medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform and refine medical strategies and/or tactics
Identify appropriate partnership opportunities between KOLs/HCPs and Takeda US Medical
Participate in executing medical strategy at medical conferences (e.g., staff medical booth, internally communicate medical insights acquired through poster/session attendance and KOL/HCP interactions)
Within defined timelines and quality standards, respond to unsolicited HCP medical information inquiries referred to by Medical Information
Complete all required customer activity documentation (e.g., CRM entries, insights capture, etc.), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Doctoral degree in life/health sciences is preferred (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent), master’s degree in health sciences (MSN, NP or PA) is the minimum requirement
A minimum of 3 years of experience post-doctorate as a field-based medical science liaison (MSL) in the pharmaceutical industry is required
Oncology experience is highly preferred
Provide constructive and timely feedback to manager and therapeutic area medical leadership
Assist leadership in coordinating team activities with cross-functional partners in support of medical strategy
Openly communicate perspectives and ideas across environments and teams
Assist leadership in gaining commitment from other team members to act on strategies/tactics
Influence and mobilize others on team to help achieve desired outcomes
Approach territory strategically, understanding and leveraging interplay between individual stakeholders, institutions, and systems
Utilize key metrics to ensure alignment to territory plan and adjust activities as necessary
Contribute to review and/or creation of field medical materials as requested, while continuing to meet core job requirements
Strategically plan KOL/HCP interactions in advance for the year to maximize efficient use of time in field
Serve as preferred, “go-to”, and trusted scientific resource for KOLs/HCPs in territory
Display advanced understanding of Takeda’s legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements and ability to apply principles while working with internal and external stakeholders
Show awareness of the patient journey and forces impacting KOL/HCP decision-making and provide associated medical insights to inform medical strategy and tactical development
Travel Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older with valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, must live in Florida and be able to travel 70% of the time, including ability to travel overnight and occasionally on weekends. Must have authorization and ability to drive a company leased vehicle or rental
