The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Commissioner of Public Lands Office. This position serves as the principal assistant, providing high‑level administrative support to a Deputy Supervisor, Deputy Director, Assistant Deputy Supervisor, and is a member of the executive management team. The role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Responsibilities Provide direct support to the principal(s) and coordinate all administrative activities: records management, report preparation, calendar management, scheduling, meeting coordination, logistics, and presentation preparation. Assist agency leadership with complex schedules, plans, summaries, recommendations, reports, research, and data preparation for meetings and projects. Co‑ordinate tasks and projects related to division services and leadership, including contracts, technical assistance, stakeholder consultation, and problem resolution. Required Qualifications Five years of administrative support experience. Working knowledge of state government operations. Proficiency with the Windows Office Suite. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet short deadlines in a fast‑paced, detail‑focused environment. Experience preparing high‑level documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Knowledge of SharePoint and general information‑management tools. Ability to handle sensitive information, public policy, and personnel issues with confidentiality. Ability to anticipate executive needs and respond to emergencies. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with agency staff, other government entities, and the public. Understanding of organizational structure and mission of DNR. Bachelor’s degree. Passion for improving social, economic, and environmental health across Washington State. Experience working with elected officials, legislative staff, and tribal officials. Experience navigating the legislative process and state contract administration. Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment Hybrid workplace – office in Natural Resources Building with occasional telework. Minimal travel; may require in‑state travel for meetings.
