Full Time 40 weekly hours, day shift
CBC Oncology Center Baptist Consulting in Blood Disorders and Cancer is conveniently located on the Baptist Hospital East campus near the corner of Breckenridge Lane and Kresge Way. Open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., CBC offers services including:
Diagnostic Imaging
Laboratory Services
Pharmacy
Research and Data Management
Social Services
Oncology Nursing
Administrative Services
Post-Treatment Counseling
Job Summary The RN uses the nursing process to collect pertinent patient information needed to determine physical and psychological needs, address and identify health problems, performs selected treatments and chemotherapy, diagnostic procedures and routine duties. The RN functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities commensurate with educational preparation, training and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient care is provided to adult and geriatric patients.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Assesses and documents patient status, including labs, diagnostic tests, and patientas understanding of chemotherapy and other planned treatment.
Provides care according to appropriate policy and procedure as well as oncology nursing guidelines.
Provides pertinent education to patient regarding care and symptom management.
Evaluates patient response to therapy.
Collaborates with members of healthcare teama"physicians, social worker, pharmacist, etc.a"in the provision of safe and effective patient care.
Demonstrates organizational and leadership skills.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required
A. Graduation from an accredited program of professional nursing.
B. Active KY Registered Nurse license.
C. BSN required.
D. BCLS preferred.
E. Oncology experience is preferred.
F. ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within six months of hire, maintain to remain current and updated every two years.
