Base pay range $200,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr
Position Summary The Vice President, Finance serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and leads all financial operations for Settlement Housing Fund and its affiliates. This role is responsible for the financial health of the organization through effective strategy, planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance. The VP plays a critical role in guiding organizational sustainability and aligning financial management with SHF’s mission-driven goals.
Strategic Financial Leadership
Develop and implement long- and short-term financial strategies aligned with SHF’s mission and operational goals.
Provide sound financial guidance to the CEO, COO, and Board of Directors to support strategic planning and decision‑making.
Analyze trends, forecast financial performance, and recommend actions for long‑term fiscal sustainability.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
Oversee all accounting operations including month‑end and year‑end close, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements, including audits, tax filings, and reporting to funders, lenders, and investors.
Conduct technical research and advise on complex financial and accounting issues.
Present clear, concise, and insightful financial reports to executive leadership and the Board.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Lead the annual budgeting process, financial modeling, and ongoing budget‑to‑actual monitoring for SHF and affiliates.
Partner with fundraising and program teams on grant and contract budgeting and compliance.
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
Supervise and support the Fiscal Department, including mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.
Oversee payroll administration and benefit reconciliations in coordination with HR.
Ensure accurate and timely financial data, reporting, and system integrity across departments.
Grants, Contracts, and Real Estate Finance
Oversee government grants and contracts billing, including invoicing and compliance.
Support fundraising team with financial data and analysis for funding applications.
Partner with asset management and real estate teams on SHF’s operating portfolio performance and new development initiatives.
Internal Controls & Risk Management
Establish and maintain robust financial controls, financial risk management practices, and operating procedures to protect organizational assets.
Regularly evaluate and improve financial systems, policies, and workflows.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, funders, investors, financial institutions, property managers, and joint venture partners.
Provide financial oversight and coordination for affiliated organizations, including New Settlement.
Additional Duties
Identify opportunities for cost savings and organizational efficiencies.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of SHF’s mission and operations.
