Engineering Supervisor – Grand Hyatt San Diego

Responsibilities
Supervise daily engineering operations to ensure all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
Lead, train, and motivate the engineering team while fostering a positive, safety‑driven work environment.
Assign and follow up on daily maintenance tasks and preventive maintenance schedules.
Inspect guest rooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas for maintenance needs and ensure timely resolution.
Maintain accurate records of work orders, maintenance logs, safety checks, and inventory.
Support energy management and sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
Partner with other departments to support guest requests, event setups, and emergency maintenance needs.
Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, brand standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
Assist in coordinating and overseeing outside contractors performing maintenance or renovation work.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills
Excellent customer service
Strong leadership skills
Basic computer knowledge such as Word, Excel programs and email
A minimum of 5 years building maintenance experience is required
Previous supervisory experience is preferred
Basic knowledge in plumbing, air‑handling units, kitchen equipment and preventative maintenance required
Shift Split shift – 3 days working from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am and 2 days working overnight from 12:00 am to 8:30 am. Normally Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am and Friday, Saturday are overnight 12:00 am to 8:30 am.
Wage $36.35 per hour. Salary decisions consider experience and education.
