Job Description
The Manager, Accounting Advisory and Outsourcing (AAO) manages the full‑life cycle of all assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review, and overall portfolio financial performance. In addition, the Manager, AAO is responsible for client relationship management, regularly meeting with the client and assigned staff, reporting financial information, making financial management recommendations, ensuring timely billing, and resolving client issues.
Responsibilities
Manage the full‑life cycle of all assigned engagements by providing technical expertise in the finance and accounting function, performing complete general ledger reconciliation, and recording transactions accurately.
Understand and utilize the technology packages clients use; describe their functions and explain system value, and recommend efficient use of technology.
Facilitate discovery meetings with clients using open‑ended questions to identify objectives and key financial information.
Design integrated solutions tailored to each client, documenting solutions and vetting them with leaders and stakeholders.
Determine the cost and benefit of client solutions, calculate pricing, and propose fixed‑fee engagements when profitable.
Formulate recommendations on technical accounting issues, financial accounting policies, procedures, and management issues; educate clients on evolving needs.
Review solutions periodically with clients to ensure they remain relevant and recommend changes as needed.
Manage conflict proactively and engage senior leadership when conflict arises.
Support clients through business changes and execute change‑management plans, providing technical management for all accounting function areas.
Gather and maintain client information, ensuring it is well organized and accessible to the team.
Business Development
Apply business development strategies and service offerings, entering prospect data into CRM.
Recommend solutions, evaluate client risk factors, and develop statements of work with leadership support.
Build exposure to industry teams, maintain awareness of industry impact on technical work, and participate in industry events.
Identify new opportunities with existing clients and communicate them to leadership.
Articulate AAO’s value proposition and target client profile.
Developing Others
Foster a culture of change and accountability.
Identify staff development needs for analytics and forecasting skills.
Train associates on all relevant software and processes.
Participate in recruiting and onboarding new associates.
Serve as a resource for associates, deepening knowledge of finance, accounting, technology, and compliance best practices.
Project Management
Create a work plan following best practices of project management.
Bill engagements timely and manage budgeting, forecasting, and key metrics.
Scope new projects and construct fee estimates, ensuring appropriate margins.
Oversee client satisfaction and engagement performance.
Ensure timely billing and resolve billing issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise the workload of senior associates, associates, and review work products.
Review overall engagement work and provide feedback on final products.
Act as a career advisor to staff and evaluate performance.
Assist in developing goals and objectives for professional development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics (required).
MBA or relevant advanced degree (preferred).
Six (6) or more years of general accounting experience (required).
Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience (preferred).
Experience with outsourced or delivery‑center operations (preferred).
Consultative or business advisory experience (preferred).
License/Certifications
CPA certification preferred.
Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) – required.
Experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft NAV, and Bill.com (preferred).
Experience with accounting research tools (preferred).

Salaries National Range: $105,000 - $125,000
Maryland Range: $105,000 - $125,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $105,000 - $125,000
