Job Summary
The Nonprofit Finance and Accounting Manager will serve our Accounting, Advisory and Outsourcing (AAO) team that supports and manages the full‑life cycle of all assigned finance and accounting outsource engagements. Responsibilities include proposal development, staff assignment and oversight, final work product review and overall portfolio financial performance in the nonprofit sector. The Manager is also responsible for client relationship management including regular client meetings, financial reporting, recommendations, billing and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
Manages the full‑life cycle of all assigned nonprofit engagements by providing technical expertise in all areas of the finance and accounting function.
Performs complete general ledger reconciliation and records transactions accurately, produces financial statements and provides analysis.
Ensures the efficiency of client technology packages and recommends improved system usage.
Facilitates effective discovery meetings and designs integrated solutions that respond to client objectives.
Accurately determines the cost and value of client solutions and proposes fixed‑fee or other fee structures.
Manages conflict and engages senior leadership when conflict arises.
Supports the client through change management and manages the full‑life cycle of all engagements.
Understands tax planning considerations and refers tax matters to Core Tax and Specialty Tax Services.
Oversees business development strategies and gains new opportunities with existing clients.
Develops the professional growth of Associates and Senior Associates, including training on software and processes.
Creates a project plan following best practices of project management and manages project budgets and milestones.
Ensures clients are billed timely and resolves any billing issues.
Supervises the day‑to‑day workload of AAO Associates and reviews work products.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or Master’s in Accountancy preferred).
Six (6) or more years of general accounting experience required; two years of supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with outsourced, nonprofit accounting principles and delivery center operations preferred.
Consultative or business advisory experience preferred.
CPA certification preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required; experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft NAV, Bill.com and accounting research tools preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and research skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and to travel up to 25% of the time.
Salary California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, NYC/Long Island/Westchester, Washington ranges: $90,000 – $125,000.
