Senior Pricing Analyst
The Senior Pricing Analyst is an internal consultant for the merchandising department. This individual will support pricing integrity (price accuracy) and implementation across the entire pricing lifecycle—including initial pricing, everyday pricing, price tests, and markdown/clearance pricing. They will use data‑driven analytics to develop insights that strengthen pricing strategy recommendations and support Category Management teams by data mining and presenting findings to build merchandising strategies.
Responsibilities
Develop and present opportunities to increase profitability and/or sales through pricing initiatives.
Consult with category managers regularly, making pricing recommendations to support business objectives.
Analyze data in price optimization software and develop scenarios to recommend everyday pricing and price test recommendations.
Apply data‑driven analytics to evaluate the marketplace and competitive data to optimally align pricing strategies within the chain and store‑specific zones.
Monitor and evaluate day‑to‑day pricing activities across multiple merchandise categories; develop tools/reports to communicate pricing trends.
Measure success of pricing change activity to ensure the team meets company expectations and maintains approved pricing philosophies.
Assume a leadership role for broader departmental responsibilities and projects.
Support and mentor other team members.
Solve problems through data analysis and reporting.
Review and establish best practices for the team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Set objectives and long‑range goals.
Identify team performance standards.
Provide coaching and feedback to build an effective team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or comparable field.
Three to five years of experience in Business Administration, Price Optimization, Statistics, Engineering, or Merchandising related responsibilities.
Knowledge of activity‑based costing, factor analysis, microeconomics, statistical process control, business process analysis, continuous improvement, and business modeling techniques such as linear regression, experiments, and time series forecasting.
Understanding of database structures; query writing skills a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with a team.
