The Investigative Program Specialist (Polygraph Examiner) applies the full range of polygraph investigative methodologies to resolve and complete administrative, civil, counterintelligence, and criminal investigations. The role involves conducting all types of polygraph examinations in support of OPR and other CBP divisions, other DHS components, and outside agencies as directed. The examiner plans and administers polygraph examinations, conducts pre‑test interviews, evaluates suitability, prepares reports, and may testify in court. Organizational Location

Conduct all types of polygraph examinations in support of CBP divisions, other DHS components, and outside federal, state, and local agencies as directed. Coordinate, plan, and administer polygraph examinations. Conduct pre‑test interviews to determine willingness and suitability for examination. Evaluate physical and psychological suitability for testing and make a final determination. Prepare accurate, concise, logical, comprehensive, and objective reports for legal venues, including testifying in court when required. Conduct extended testing to resolve undecided issues, confirm admissions, or locate evidence as necessary. Requirements
U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service. Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. Pre‑employment processes will be conducted in English. Must pass a background investigation and/or polygraph. Must adhere to DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures. Must comply with all government ethics standards and conflict of interest statutes. Must comply with E‑Verify verification. Financial disclosure is required. Position not covered by bargaining unit. Qualifications
Experience
GS‑12: Equivalent to 1 year specialized experience, including selecting appropriate polygraph techniques, analyzing physiological data, conducting in‑depth interrogations, identifying case issues and evidence, and preparing forensic investigation reports. GS‑13: Equivalent to 1 year specialized experience, including adapting polygraph techniques, collecting evidence while maintaining lawful standards, conducting in‑depth interviews, and preparing forensic reports. Basic Requirements
At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. At least two years of investigative experience with a recognized U.S. government agency or law enforcement agency. Successful completion of a Psychophysiological Detection of Deception (PDD) polygraph examination. At least 25 years of age. Transcript or certification documentation may be required. Education
All applicants must submit a copy of their college transcript (unofficial acceptable at the time of application, official required prior to duty). Transcripts will be required if certification documentation cannot be provided. Additional Information
