We are now accepting resumes for the Floor Manager position at Carlotto. This opportunity is ideal for someone who would like to join a passionate team of hospitality professionals. Carlotto is an Italian concept set in a 75-seat restaurant space that was designed by David Rockwell and neighbors its highly acclaimed sister-restaurant, Oceans. With a philosophy that the soul of the restaurant is found in its kitchen, we specialize in sustainably-sourced ingredients to complement our vast menu that includes crafted housemade pasta, carefully procured salumi/formaggio, alongside an abundant offering of antipasti options.
Job Summary The Floor Manager will inspire, coach, test, lead, and manage the front-of-house team while working closely with fellow managers to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated guest experience that is in harmony with the kitchen’s food program and restaurant's beverage program. The ideal candidate should have a positive and "can-do" attitude with a tireless work ethic and keen desire to continue learning and growing. This position requires full-time evening availability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other Duties May Be Assigned As Required)
Serve as an educator, as well as an inspirational, committed, and responsible leader to the restaurant’s front-of-house team
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant
Maintain exceptional standards of professionalism and hospitality
Lead by example, inspiring staff to deliver a memorable food and beverage experience
Display a genuine passion to facilitate and exceed guest service expectations
Ensure the delivery of superior customer service through effective staff training and education
Actively participate in the mentorship and support of all team members
Develop a strong and positive rapport with staff and guests
Drive positive results and align with business goals
Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiate and execute special projects
Write weekly FOH Team Schedule for service team
Assist in wine service that focuses on largely Italian wines
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
At least two years of management experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
At least one year of experience previously working as a server, bartender, or sommelier
Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best-in-class outcomes to perpetuate growth in a premium service environment
Highly committed to a premium level of quality
Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests
Excellent wine and spirit knowledge
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Full-time availability
A professionally recognized wine and/or spirits certificate is an asset
IDEAL BEVERAGE BACKGROUND AND ABILITY
Possess wine expertise with the ability to guide guests through our winelist while overseeing service in the entire restaurant
Present, represent and offer wine suggestions to all guests, execute wine service step by step
Support dining room staff with any wine related and service related issues
Build guest loyalty by creating and maintaining guest preference notes related to wine consumption and enjoyment (with assistance of host team), record all guest notes in RESY database.
