Job Summary The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for an Education Abroad Program Manager! This position exists to enable students to study abroad or to have an academic learning experience as an integral part of their CU Boulder academic career. Responsibilities include leading a portfolio of education abroad programs, advising students on program options, preparing students for a term away from the CU Boulder campus, and providing health and safety support. This position also supports various EA teams such as the Advising team, and the Advertising, Marketing and Outreach team and/or others as needed. The position is expected to further the strategic goals and mission of the University of Colorado Boulder and of Education Abroad, and to contribute to the University's Excellence goals.

Who We Are Education Abroad is a unit within International Education in the Office of Undergraduate Education within the Division of Academic Affairs, at the University of Colorado Boulder. The mission of this unit is to develop, operate, and maintain a comprehensive portfolio of global education programs for CU Boulder students and academic units, including study abroad, domestic programs, international student exchanges, international internships, faculty-led Global Seminars and Global Intensives, and international research and service learning. The unit is responsible for health and safety and risk mitigation for students going abroad on CU Boulder sponsored programs, and oversees campus support for the International Travel Registration process.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Manage a Portfolio of Education Abroad Programs including Global Seminars
Oversee and lead a portfolio of assigned programs by working with program contacts, students, and others. Programs may include exchanges and various partner programs.
Act as CU liaison with assigned program partners, maintaining relationships, facilitating collaboration, and advocating on behalf of CU students.
Coordinate with overseas or U.S. partner institution colleagues on academics, logistics, cultural issues, health/safety issues, etc.
Ensure that all program information on the website and brochures is up to date.
Health/Safety/Crisis Management
Serve as the first contact when an emergency or crisis happens abroad, working closely with the EA Director and Associate Director.
Gather all pertinent information, notify all relevant parties, maintain accurate records of the situation, and work with relevant campus offices.
Adhere to policies such as FERPA and HIPAA.
Remain knowledgeable about health and safety issues for relevant cities/countries and discuss them during orientation meetings.
Admit And Prepare Students
Make decisions about accepting or rejecting students for education abroad programs based on qualifications and program prerequisites.
Interview students with legal or disciplinary charges to recommend admission decisions.
Set academic conditions for students who are not yet fully qualified.
Prepare admitted students by providing pre‑departure materials, orientation meetings, and answering questions.
Respond to inquiries from parents.
Evaluate And Monitor Programs
Recommend, approve, and add new programs as needed with the EA Director.
Gather and evaluate student feedback, produce annual program evaluation reports, and recommend improvements.
Participate in overseas site visits and program reviews.
Liaise With Campus Partners
Collaborate with academic departments to coordinate student academic schedules for study abroad.
Partner with other campus offices on student situations (e.g., OVA, OSC, CAPS, OVA, Students of Concern, Academic Advisors).
Global Seminar Program Management Includes Duties That Are Similar to General Program Management and Also Includes Additional Duties/Responsibilities
Work with the faculty director to select or reject students for study abroad programs.
Coordinate logistics, advertising, recruitment, application review, and student selection.
Evaluate Global Seminars for academic, logistical, cultural, and health/safety quality.
Consult with the Director of Global Seminars for major changes and first‑time programs.
Inform the Director of potential problems and implement changes with faculty directors.
Meet with faculty to set timelines for advertising, application processing, interviews, and orientation.
Determine continuity of outreach or program cancellation due to low enrollment.
Support handling emergencies/crises for Global Seminars.
Support to Education Abroad Teams
Participate in various EA teams such as the Advising Team, the Advertising, Marketing & Outreach Team, the Academics Team, and others during the application cycle.
Provide support during the EA application cycle based on each team's workflow.
Education Abroad Advising
Advise students on study abroad opportunities, meeting individually with walk‑in students for the assigned region.
Determine interests, qualifications, and needs, and advise on appropriate programs.
Explain academic, cultural, logistical, and practical aspects of programs.
Maintain knowledge of all regional programs, participate in training, and provide excellent customer service.
Align with FERPA regulations during phone calls and record advising sessions in the TDS.
Provide backup advising when other staff are out of office.
General Support
Serve on summer committees to aid EA's strategic plan and office efficiencies.
Help with outreach events and presentations.
Provide backup support as needed and help advance new EA initiatives.
Perform other assigned duties.
What You Should Know This position has a hybrid work schedule.
What We Can Offer The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $62,000 annually. Onboarding assistance is available within department guidelines.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
A demonstrated significant intercultural experience, and/or overseas life/work experience.
At least two years of professional experience in an education abroad office, student services department, or study abroad provider organization, demonstrating progressively responsible work in higher education.
Must be capable of traveling outside the U.S.
