UTS - Temporary Clinical Nurse at UNC (Kannapolis)
Working under the general supervision of the Clinical Research Core Manager, this position supports the operation of the Clinical Research Core (CRC) and any clinical studies that utilize the services that the core provides.
Job Duties
Start IVs and blood draws following clinical best practices for bloodborne pathogens and SOPs.
Collect and process human specimens including blood, urine, stool, and saliva. This includes centrifuging, aliquoting, and sample storage.
Compile data from study equipment and record lab results in participant files.
Maintain study records according to study protocols and HIPAA regulations.
Handle participant recruitment, eligibility screenings, and informed consent.
Perform anthropometric and clinical measurements including blood pressure, height, and weight.
May assist in coordinating the daily operations of the Clinical Research Core.
May train and/or supervise other technicians in laboratory processing techniques.
May assist with metabolic kitchen maintenance in conjunction with the Kitchen Manager.
Attend non-revenue generating sporting events for free.
Qualifications
Experience with placing and managing IVs for repeated blood collection; willingness to train individuals with excellent phlebotomy skills.
Ability to work independently, possibly as the only licensed or certified staff onsite during study visits.
CITI certification or willingness to complete training upon hire.
Currently licensed or certified in the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic, LPN, or RN.
Early mornings, evenings, and weekends shifts may be required.
Coursework in Nursing or related field preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged.
