This key leadership role involves managing the department's budget and resources, developing partnerships to enhance the department's reputation, and overseeing all aspects of faculty and student affairs. The Chair will also be expected to teach in their area of expertise, providing a direct forum for interaction with students and modeling scholarship within the department.
Applicants for the Chair position should hold an MFA or PhD in a relevant field, have a minimum of five years of university-level teaching experience, and a well-established research agenda with a significant exhibition or scholarly record. The role requires effective collaborative and communication skills, as well as a commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful academic environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic administration, a proven track record of leadership, and a strong background in fine arts education. Responsibilities also include coordinating curriculum development, discipline-specific accreditation, and managing day-to-day student affairs.
