Primary Purpose:
Identify and recruit migrant students to attend school in the district. Act as a district liaison to the migrant community to provide migratory children with access to appropriate educational services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Fluent in the designated foreign language
Ability to work with diverse community populations and communicate effectively with parents of migrant students
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Knowledge of various local social service agencies
Ability to travel throughout the district

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Student Recruitment
- Actively identify and recruit eligible migrant children residing in the school district using methods such as establishing communications networks, surveying the area, and periodically surveying students.
- Make home visits and interview migrant families to determine eligibility for services and make them aware of available school and social services programs in the area.
Policy, Reports, and Law
- Enroll and withdraw migrant students from the school district.
- Compile pertinent data to prepare required federal, state, and local reports. Maintain files and databases, including federal database of migrate students and other student records.
- Answer telephone and perform routing office duties.
Other
- Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
