The Distribution Center (DC) Industrial Engineer II at JR286 will support the DC ongoingly related to best practices, technology applications, material handling systems, facility planning, labor management systems and procedures to ensure that business and project objectives are achieved for our JR286 Logistics division. These initiatives will lower cost, improve service and enhance operational effectiveness. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills combined with demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills in distribution center solution development.
What You'll Do
Drives key automation, optimization and continuous improvement projects across JR286’s distribution center facilities using sound analytical methods, sophisticated software skills, advanced engineering knowledge, change management, and communication tools to effectively design distribution centers that will yield the highest productivity and efficiency gains in pick, put, and sort systems and storage with an emphasis on efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Manages data analytics, warehouse layout and design, storage optimization, and ROI cost justifications for recommendations and new technology solutions.
Identifies, modifies and develops standard operating procedures to streamline operating processes and training opportunities.
Identifies process improvement opportunities through competitive analysis and critical thinking.
Conducts time studies, performs zero base analysis, rate analysis, network analysis, statistical analysis, flow path analysis and related supply chain analysis.
Provides facility and capacity planning support for distribution and transportation functions in logistics including functioning as the subject matter expert for optimal design elements and automation.
Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging industry practices.
Develops methods for tracking and reporting distribution center key performance indicators.
Involves technical preparation and training of personnel involved in distribution center management.
Performs data analysis on inventory stocking levels and shipping and receiving activity to produce an optimal storage configuration design and product flow to maximize footprint and warehouse efficiencies.
Manages racking equipment installation and facility layout capital projects, including budget, timeline, and external vendors.
Analyzes, design, develop, implement, test, and maintain efficient and highly scalable optimization models for warehouse logistics and distribution centers.
Solves business problems pragmatically, leveraging the right machine learning and/or optimization tool, and performing prescriptive, descriptive, and predictive analysis.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
What to Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
In depth knowledge of Warehousing Operations
Minimum 3 – 5 years of related engineering experience relating to distribution centers preferably in a high-volume environment
Experience with implementation of warehouse automation
Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Inventory Analysis tools
Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications
Demonstrated data manipulation and management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Demonstrated ability to learn technical skills quickly
Understanding of optimization and/or simulation algorithms
