Northrop Grumman is seeking motivated engineers and scientists to join our research and development design team focusing on custom, low-power, low-temperature, RF, analog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits. In this role you will join Northrop Grumman’s Superconducting Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design team, working closely with internal semiconductor foundry. You will work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to design integrated circuits for emerging applications in low temperature environments. Responsibilities
Contribute your expertise in advanced design techniques and semiconductor manufacturing/testing Enhance your task leadership and electromagnetic (EM) simulation skills Develop innovative circuits, design techniques, and best practices Learn systems-level communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams You will work closely with design leadership, product owners, fabrication, test, and theory teams to conduct comprehensive experiments and drive our aggressive research and development schedule. All work is performed in a Linux environment using state-of-the-art computer-aided design tools. This position offers exposure to multiple disciplines and provides the opportunity to expand your skills in several directions based on your interests. Note:
This position requires on-site work at Northrop Grumman’s Linthicum, MD area facilities. Basic Qualifications For Principal Circuit Design Engineer
Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 5 years of RF, Analog, or Mixed Signal Circuit design experience (3 years with technical MS or 1 year with a PhD) Strong attention to detail and organization Experience in custom IC design or layout in Cadence Virtuoso or similar EDA software in Linux Strong problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills Interest in mentoring junior designers Ability to collaborate with multiple teams to complete chip leadership tasks U.S. Citizenship is required Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer requirements Basic Qualifications For Senior Principal Circuit Design Engineer
Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 8 years of RF Analog or Mixed Signal Circuit design experience (6 years with MS or 4 years with PhD) Strong attention to detail and organization Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso or similar IC design software in Linux Working knowledge of the IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, and layout Strong problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in simulation tool development, verification, and loop closure comparison to test results Ability to independently take concepts and derive action items to complete tasks with minimal guidance Experience in mentoring junior designers U.S. Citizenship is required Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer requirements Preferred Qualifications For Both Levels
Proficient use of at least one software tool for linear and nonlinear circuit characterization (e.g., ANSYS HFSS/Maxwell3D, ADS Momentum, COMSOL) 2D and 3D Electromagnetic modeling experience with commercial tools (e.g., ANSYS HFSS/Maxwell3D, COMSOL, Momentum) Programming experience in Cadence SKILL or Python Experience in semiconductor fabrication, testing, and/or novel idea creation Experience in small to medium size team leadership Experience in Process Design Kit development and Linux infrastructure setup/maintenance Active U.S. Government security clearance Salary ranges: Primary Level Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00; Secondary Level Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00. The above ranges are general guidelines and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
