Early Career, Traffic Engineer . This position can be based out of our

Seattle, WA

or

Portland, OR

offices. Be involved in projects with our Pacific Mountain West Traffic Engineering Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The individual will be part of a team of talented professionals delivering transportation and infrastructure projects within the region. This position will be exposed to a wide array of traffic engineering in our blended traffic design and operations team. Based in the Seattle or Redmond office, this role will report to the office at least three days a week and have the option to work remotely up to two days per week. Your Impact

Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, maps, technical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.

Assist with performing basic professional traffic engineering work relating to investigating and inspecting proposed and existing site conditions, roadways, pathways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits.

Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies to account for safety and functionality of end-users and transportation vehicles/systems.

Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing basic technical assistance on traffic engineering studies, capacity analyses, safety analyses, operations analyses, ITS, signal system design, illumination design, signing and pavement marking design, and traffic control plans.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebooks/logs.

Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures including data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.

Ensure responsibilities are delivered with a quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Familiarity with roadway transportation and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, and presenting ideas effectively to engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Proactive self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Proven ability to uphold workplace safety and to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training Certification.

Familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, Vissim).

Active involvement in local professional practice organizations.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $61,300 - $96,030. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range and to offer additional benefits depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or status protected by law.
