WSP in the U.S. . Location: Seattle, WA or Portland, OR. Be involved in projects with our Pacific Mountain West Traffic Engineering Team and work within a blended traffic design and operations team. Based in Seattle or Redmond, WA, the role reports to the office at least three days a week and may allow remote work up to two days per week. At WSP, we are looking for motivated engineers and designers in Traffic and ITS Engineering to support our clients’ growing needs. Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, GIS data, maps, technical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.

Assist with performing basic professional traffic engineering work related to investigations and inspections of site conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, pavement markings, and transportation corridors to determine conformance with applicable rules and permits.

Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies to ensure safety and functionality for end-users and transportation systems.

Assist with traffic engineering studies, capacity analyses, safety analyses, operations analyses, ITS, signal system design, illumination design, signing and pavement markings, and traffic control plans.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks/logs.

Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures, including data collection, documentation, engineering studies, surveys, and construction.

Deliver responsibilities with quality that meets or exceeds industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.

0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.

Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.

Familiarity with roadway transportation and construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.

Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.

Familiarity with discipline-specific software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, Vissim).

Active in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $61,300 - $96,030. WSP USA reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range based on experience, internal equity, and location.
