The Medical Director is responsible for leadership, quality assurance, oversight and overall medical management of the facility within the boundaries of state and federal regulations and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include planning, organizing medical and clinical practices, medical staff supervision, providing direct client care and assisting other departments with direct interactions with physicians or medical staff. Oversees and is responsible for the quality, efficiency and management of delivering medical services within the facility. Provides clinical services to clients at the facility within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures. Treats or directs treatment of clients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Defines protocols and assists in decision making pertaining to the medical care of clients that is consistent with current medical practice and facility policies and procedures. Provides oversight and supervision to other professional medical staff, as well as guidance to administrative or support staff, as designated. Directs services and information in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policies and procedures. Oversees compliance regarding the appropriate medical management of clients, clinical programming, documentation and ethical issues to ensure that all services are provided in a safe and effective manner. Serves as a liaison between the medical staff, other clinic staff, division or corporate staff, and organizational leadership. Monitors assigned staff to adherence to established medical and facility policies and procedures. Provides back up call coverage. Serves in a teaching capacity for the training and development of other staff. Evaluates clients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Secures physical exam and history from the client, reviews medical records, makes medical evaluations, requests appropriate diagnostic testing, prescribes medications and treatments. Assists in the management of behavioral or mental health problems of clients, maintains current medical records in accordance with federal or state regulation, and facility policies and procedures. On call rotation. Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) supplemented by the completion of psychiatric residency training required. One or more years’ post graduate degree practice preferred. Current license to practice medicine, by the state in which the facility(s) operate. Board certification or certificate of admissibility for board certification in a behavioral health specialty. Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working. CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). Location and Employment Details
