Overview
Director for Advancing Energy Ecopreneurship Location: Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, Stanford, California, United States. This is a two-year fixed term position with the possibility of renewal dependent on programmatic need and budgetary availability. The position is based on Stanford’s main campus with consideration for a hybrid work schedule (partially onsite and offsite), subject to operational need. About the institution: The Precourt Institute for Energy and the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability support energy research, education, and entrepreneurship. The goal is to advance energy ecopreneurship and support students through co-curricular programs and partnerships with Stanford and external entities. Responsibilities
Lead strategic vision by developing and executing a strong program and co-curricular student endeavors for advancing energy entrepreneurship at Stanford. Lead and apply thought-leadership on energy entrepreneurship, communicating insights to stakeholders internally and externally. Establish and sustain key partnerships with faculty, student clubs, and internal centers to advance energy entrepreneurship. Represent energy ecopreneurship with external entities to open conduits for entrepreneurship opportunities. Advise on strategic fundraising opportunities for energy ecopreneurship and the broader Precourt education pillar. Build liaison relationships to align energy ecopreneurship with Ecopreneurship at Stanford and related accelerator programs. Develop connections with internal and external ecosystems (e.g., Ecopreneurship network, Stanford Venture Studio, Ecopreneurship programs) and support student entrepreneurship journeys from ideation to launch. Provide guidance on evaluating technology venture ideas for strategic energy transitions and pitching to venture investors. Engage and lead graduate students in exploring commercialization pathways for sustainability-focused faculty innovations. Develop tracking and metric analysis models for innovation explorations and technology commercialization realizations. Teach and co-teach courses related to entrepreneurship in energy transitions and sustainability; develop curriculum and co-curricular opportunities. Mentor and coach program staff and students; expand on-ramps for energy entrepreneurs and engage alumni mentors. Serve as an Innovation Coach for energy-focused Eco-Sprint programs. Lead and oversee development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of programs. Oversee analysis, reporting, and program improvements; ensure adherence to program policies and procedures. Lead strategic planning for the program/entity. Represent the entity or program to the broader university, external community, and stakeholders. Provide expert consultation related to program development, funding opportunities, or other specialty area. Develop outreach strategy related to program communications, partnerships, and fundraising. Identify external funding opportunities, write proposals and research grants; oversee strategic financial planning and sustainability. Teach or co-teach courses; oversee course administration; advise on curriculum development; coach and mentor students and program staff. Coach and mentor program staff. Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in the area of specialization, or a combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. For roles with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources. Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, with fluency in the area of specialization. Ability to oversee and direct staff. Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans. Certifications And Licenses
For teaching roles, an advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs. Preferred Qualifications
Enthusiasm to work with students and develop lasting connections; knowledge of Stanford as a student is preferred but not required. Creativity and passion to create a positive, meaningful program for Stanford students to navigate energy on campus and beyond. Ability to build relationships across Stanford’s energy ecosystem and with external partners. Ability to mentor students, connect them to resources, and help chart a path based on their interests. The expected pay range for this position is $139,741 to $179,496 per annum. Stanford provides a pay range as a good faith estimate; final pay is determined based on factors including responsibilities, qualifications, budget, and market considerations.
