Position Overview The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is looking to hire a new

Systems Administrator . Please note: to be hired for this position, you must reside in Oregon or Washington.

In this position, you’ll work within the Criminal Justice Information Systems Unit, and be responsible for the deployment, administration, maintenance, and diagnostics of systems used throughout the agency. You’ll monitor, analyze and maintain network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outages, and provide a reliable and secure network by establishing and enforcing configuration standards and policies. This position will regularly travel between MCSO-supported locations throughout the Metro Area, including the Technology Support Desk, our secure Corrections Facilities, Police Precincts, and other work sites.

Primary Responsibilities

Support network-based computing systems within MCSO.

Administer and support changing technology including the Axon stack (body worn cameras, interview rooms, Axon mobile apps, and data sharing with partner agencies).

Create, maintain, and support user connectivity to applications like Exchange, SWIS, TeleStaff, NetMotion VPN, and other systems used by MCSO and Non-MCSO Staff.

Provide Help Desk support including desktop, web, and application issues.

Perform lifecycle replacement of MCSO-supported hardware.

Collaborate with vendors, contractors, management, and IT departments to install, configure, test, update and implement networking hardware and software.

Implement and maintain programs to protect information resources (data security, firewall, web security, authentication).

Coordinate recovery and repair efforts to minimize downtime and restore failed systems promptly.

Support analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex PC problems in line with agency standards.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a closely related field. (Additional experience may substitute for education.)

One (1) year of experience in information technology technical services.

Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license by the time of appointment.

Must pass a criminal records and employment references check.

Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills You do not need the preferred qualifications to qualify, but they may be considered when identifying the most qualified candidates. Clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following:

Experience installing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows systems (Active Directory, Windows File and Print sharing, Azure AD, VMWare VMs).

Understanding of IP addressing, protocols, DNS, and routing.

Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services (hybrid Exchange environments, Teams, SharePoint).

Basic automation experience (deployment, recovery, or other manual processes).

Additional Information This recruitment may be used to fill full-time, part-time, temporary, limited-duration, and on-call positions. Compensation: $51.03 - $62.81 USD Hourly. This is a hybrid telework position after in-person training, located primarily at Inverness Jail, Portland, OR 97220. Residency in Oregon or Washington required. Typical schedule is dayshift, Monday–Friday, with rotating on-call for after-hours needs. The County offers a comprehensive benefits package.
