Overview
Veolia is a global leader in environmental services, specializing in water, energy, and waste management. The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will provide routine to complex field service support for Sievers brand TOC analytical instruments and accessories at customer sites primarily in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, with support for Maryland and Virginia. Responsibilities include maintenance, verification, validation, repair, calibration, and troubleshooting. The FSE may also support Sievers Endotoxin and Bioburden instrument lines. Residency within the Greater Washington, D.C. or Rockville, MD areas and within 1 hour of BWI or DCA/Dulles is required. Occasional field service support may be needed outside the region, including Canada and the US.

Travel to customer sites and perform preventive maintenance (PM) and related services on TOC equipment Plan, schedule, and confirm customer services, including coordinating travel and parts shipments Maintain administrative duties, parts inventory, and relevant trainings Answer customer calls, participate in territory sales meetings and service team meetings Respond to on-demand contract services with 3- or 7-business-day response commitments for troubleshooting and repair Write clear and concise reports for customers Support special projects and new-hire training as assigned Collaborate with Sales to identify new instrument and service opportunities and upsell service and consumables at existing customer sites as appropriate Ensure safety on the job and comply with Veolia EHS policies, including operation and maintenance of an assigned company vehicle Domestic travel approximately 70% Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills Ability to prioritize tasks across multiple instruments and administrative duties Troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry, and safety Vision, manual dexterity, and coordination to service instruments and handle electrical equipment Ability to learn applicable company procedures within a reasonable time Computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and basic network/database knowledge Ability to use hand tools, calibrated tools, and analytical instrumentation; able to handle chemically aggressive fluids Strong verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal supervision Ability to speak effectively before groups and customers Ability to meet deadlines and work within a team environment Ability to make good business decisions based on risk-reward analysis and business objectives Education & Experience
Required: Associate Degree in a Science, Technical, or Engineering discipline; or equivalent education At least 3 years of experience in ultra-pure water applications or servicing and/or operating analytical instrumentation in a lab environment Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or Physics; or equivalent education At least 1 year of experience in ultra-pure water applications or servicing and/or operating analytical instrumentation in a lab environment Working Conditions
Flexible schedule based on customer needs Valid US driver’s license with a good driving record Frequent driving to customer sites Air travel required to reach customer destinations and back-up support for other areas Willingness to travel to customer sites with overnight stays about 30%–40% of the time Use of laptop and mobile systems Work around machines, electrical equipment, chemicals, in industrial facilities Work at customer sites including outdoor installations, clean rooms, and laboratories requiring clean attire Manual dexterity for tool use, handling small parts, and repair procedures Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently Additional Information
